It was drawnup based on the KNBS national household master sample frame, the National Sample Surveys and Evaluation Programme (NASSEP). Survey interviewees were randomly selected at the household level using the Kish grid. To reflect the changes in Kenya's administrative boundaries, the 2013 survey sample was divided into sub-regions representing all counties.
