The height of the child is taken as its recumbent length to the nearest 0.1 cm. A stadiometer is used for this purpose. Place the stadiometer on a flat surface and lay the child on the board, getting the mother's help. By using the foot rest and holding the child's shin (above the ankle) press the feet firmly until they are perpendicular to the base of the measuring board. Record the measurement quickly and release the child immediately.
