Weight of the child is taken using a 25-kg “Salter Scale” balance. The weight is recorded to the nearest 0.1 kg. Before weighing the child, remember to “zero” the scale. This is done by hanging the pants (harness) from the scale and adjusting the pointer to zero. Weigh the child with minimal clothing. Shoes should be removed and record the weight when child is hanging freely.
